Yesterday Katie and I went swimming, such an awfully hot day, 39c in Brisbane and we were desperate to get in the pool. The pool was was full so we decided to lounge on the grass first, watching the throngs of people cool off in the heat. I quietly smiled as I watched a boy of about 6 repetitively throw himself into the water at various angles, completely oblivious to his own mortality and doing so with utter joy.
The water was perfect, and just floating amid the splashing was all I needed to restore some balance.
Our swimming finished, we indulged in an iceblock and were attacked by the resident rainbow Lorikeet, Mango - an iceblock will never be as fun unless battling for a lick with a feisty sugar addicted parrot.
What a lovely afternoon.
